Indian History & IKS भारतीय ज्ञान परम्परा

Civilizations, thinkers and Indian Knowledge Systems — an unbroken tradition of learning spanning millennia.

Overview

An unbroken tradition of learning

India is home to one of the world's oldest continuous civilizations. From the great cities of the Sindhu-Saraswati valley to the world's first universities, learning has always been at its heart.

Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) is the vast, interconnected body of this wisdom — spanning mathematics, medicine, linguistics, arts, governance and philosophy — much of it still waiting to be studied with modern rigour.

विद्या ददाति विनयं विनयाद्याति पात्रताम् । Vidyā dadāti vinayaṃ vinayād yāti pātratām “Knowledge gives humility; from humility comes worthiness.” — Hitopadesha
